This is one of the areas where we work the hardest. There are MANY potential dental health hazards that patients and health care providers can be exposed to. We believe it is extremely important to go well beyond just the minimum standards in infection control (precautionary steps taken to prevent spread of disease) at Sonshine Dental Care. Here are some of the steps we take that make us a little unique ... a little more protective of you, our patient.

1 - We are not open to the general public. We do not believe every practice should be open to every patient, simply for the protection of all individuals that are involved with that practice (patients and personnel alike). We believe that patients should have the freedom to carefully select their health care provider and ,in the same token, health care providers should be able to carefully select their patients. We believe our patients should be like-minded and wholehearted in regard to the nature and goals of our practice.

2 - We believe that patients with certain contagious and/or life-threatening diseases are best treated only in a dental practice that is designed specifically for these conditions. This is the best way to protect all individuals involved from these conditions.

3 - INFECTION CONTROL is one of the issues we dedicate ourselves to the most on a daily basis to protect our patients. For this reason we implement the following protection measures to ensure that protection:

4 - We avoid exposing patients to excessive radiation by eliminating unnecessary radiographs(x rays)

5 - We do not provide fluoride treatments due to the potential health hazards

6 - We do not place mercury amalgam fillings due to the potential health hazards

7 - We do not provide or recommend root canal treatments because of the potential overall health hazards, however we can refer you to good endodontists who does if you choose to have one done anyway.
